This is a rare book. It’s not often that a sequel is bigger and better than the first book and that too without being repetitive in the least.
The first book was original, thrilling and epic. This one was even more so and yet unique in its own right.
The story picks up immediately after the end of the first book and almost moves at a breakneck pace and is more tense, maybe because you’re pushed deeper into the mythos and wonders of it all.
One of the protagonists is a spy and her arc is still about under cover espionage work (I know it sounds similar to the first book, but trust me, this is quite different). Lizanne is compelling and badass. Her action scenes are terrific.
The other heroes are on an adventure that is part Pirates of the Caribbean and part Lara Croft Tomb Raider. We get tons of new information on the world-building but most importantly, revelations on the drake’s origins.
We also have another surprise point of view that adds depth and complexity to the story.
This is a worthy addition that expands the story, adds intrigue and keeps us hooked. An enthusiastic 5 stars.
