I won’t get into much detail about this book other than saying that this book is proof that standalone books are alive and thriving.
Peter has proved that one doesn’t need thousands of pages and multiple books to tell a good story.
The plot outline is rather uncomplicated, evil is taking over the world and one boy must find his inner strength to become a hero and save the world. He has good friends to help him find himself and accompany him on his heroic journey. It is told with a remarkably distinctive voice.
One can’t help but root for our hero Falco and his best friend Malaki from the first page itself. They are strong in their own ways, loyal to each other and are excellent protagonists.
The book has everything I want in a high fantasy book: friendship, loyalty, mystery, battles, uncompromising evil and of-course Dragons!
The book is over 600 pages long but it ended much too quickly for me. I was taken on a fun adventure and loved every minute of it.
A special shout out to the author Peter Flannery. There’s a part in the book which I wanted to know more about. I mentioned this in my review on Goodreads and Peter personally reached out to me and explained his though process behind it. That felt incredible. He definitely turned me into a long term fan.
I would also like to give a shout out to Amazon Kindle Unlimited because without it, I probably would not have discovered it. The author deserves much more recognition. Here’s hoping he writes a lot more books.
